Bridge-Liberia holds Education Officers Summit today

Monrovia – On today, 11 September 2018, Bridge-Liberia will hold its first ever Summit in Monrovia for some 30 Education Officers (EOs).

Officials of the Government of Liberia expected to grace the Summit are the Senate Education Committee Chair, Dallas A.V. Gueh and the House of Representatives’ Education Committee Chair, Johnson Gwaikolo.

The EOs include County Education Officers and District Education Officers from eight of the ten counties across Liberia where Bridge operates government schools using modern, state-of-the-art technology.

The Summit is part of ongoing engagement efforts to improve coordination and collaboration at the field level and build EOs’ capacity in holding Bridge Liberia accountable for the services provided on behalf of the Ministry of Education.

‘It is our hope that the knowledge gained by EOs will ensure operational excellence and increase productivity at the school level’, Bridge Country Director Marcus Wleh announced Monday.

The day-long activity using “The Bridge Model,” will cover several topics including learning materials and teaching: curriculum, textbooks, etc.; Technology: Smartphone and teacher computer; brief on observations and how a successful lesson looks like;

The rest are: Providing feedback; Teacher management: absenteeism, transfer, recruitment, removal; insurance; etc.; Areas of collaboration: school visits, school assessments, facilities management, etc. and Role and responsibilities of stakeholders (MOE/EOs and Bridge) in the partnership

Bridge uses in-depth teacher training and support, advanced lesson plans and wireless technology to provide pupils with a meaningful and life-changing education.

The Bridge module is a radical initiative designed to transform the future of Liberian children. It’s an education flagship program led by Africans for Africa that could have exciting consequences for the rest of the Continent.
