Monrovia – A group of concerned Liberian journalists has launched an urgent humanitarian campaign in a bid to save the life of one of their colleagues, longtime journalist Dennis Samukai, who is critically ill, and is hospitalized at the S.D Cooper Hospital in Sinkor, at 12th Street.
The group of journalists, under the banner LIBERIAN JOURNALISTS CHATROOM, made the SOS appeal Tuesday, rallying all and sundry, including journalists and Liberians of all walks of life to come to the aid of ailing journalist Samukai, through financial assistance to enable him foot his medical bills and settle other related obligations.
Meanwhile, LIBERIAN JOURNALISTS CHATROOM has announced that it will at 10 AM on tomorrow Wednesday, 10 October, stage a mini rally at the Clay Street Headquarters of the Press Union of Liberia (PUL), to raise funds for the ailing journalist.

Journalist Samukai has worked as reporter and newscaster for several local news outlets including the state broadcaster, LBS; OK FM; the erstwhile Liberia Communications Network (LCN), and the Catholic-run Radio Veritas.
He also worked at the well-respected and award-winning Star Radio prior to its folding up off the air – Samukai, who is reportedly diagnosed with hyperglycemia or the rise of glucose (sugar) level in his blood, prior to being ill, last worked for Joy FM.
