Monrovia – As the country’s fastest-growing political movement, the Economic Freedom Fighters of Liberia (EFFL) gears up to celebrate the 1st anniversary of the group’s existence, the national leadership headed by Commander-In-Chief Emmanuel D. Gonquoi, has made available to its Mragibi County Command several thousands Liberians dollars and tons of food items including 100 bags of rice to boost the celebrations.
Official program marking the EFFL’s 1st-anniversary celebrations is scheduled to be held on Saturday, 20 July 2019, in Kakata City, Margibi County.
Modeled after Julius Sello Malem’s Economic Freedom Fighter of South Africa, the EFFL was founded a year ago by youthful Emmanuel Gonquoi, who being inspired by what he calls a new vision anchored on hope for the masses redemption and an adamant combat against impunity which aims to bring about economic emancipation for all Liberians in the country’s governance process.
On the memorable morning of June 30, 2018, CIC Gonquoi inspired by his anti-capitalist ideology through his revolutionary invocation of the grass-root leftist doctrine of Liberia’s socialism, got to work and hence, the EFFL was founded – for the purpose of what the EFFL CIC calls bringing to an end the imperial dominance of the national wealth by those he describes as a selected circle of planted capitalists and conspired democrats.
The Kakata celebrations of EFFL 1st anniversary will be colorful, according to the group’s national secretary General, Ernest Moibah, Jr., who confirmed to PUNCH FM/TV online service that ahead of the occasion, all of EFFL’s command structures in Margibi County, the Muslim and Christian Communities, as well as commercial motorcyclists in that part of the country, are all expected to receive a share of L$200,000, 100 bags of rice and assorted food items to serve as a boost to the celebrations.
The one year anniversary celebration of the EFFL which is a fierce critic of the George Weah-led government is expected to be graced by several high-profile Liberians mostly drawn from the opposition bloc of the country’s political arena.
The political leader of the opposition Alternative National Congress (ANC), Mr. Alexander Cummings; and the political leader of the former ruling Unity Party (UP), Joseph N. Bokai, who also ex-Vice President of Liberia, are expected to grace the EFFL 1st-anniversary celebrations, according to sources.
