Monrovia – Joseph Zangar Bright, Jr., alias “Mr. Biggs” has refuted media reports that he has declared his intention to vie for the presidency of the Musicians Union of Liberia (MULIB), in its upcoming elections.
The Musicians Union is poised to go to the polls soon, although the elections’ date has not been officially released, sources have hinted that it is most like to come up in a couple of months’ time.
Vision Magazine reported recently that “Mr. Biggs” had disclosed in an interview that he was not supporting any candidate in the impending MULIB elections, with the online publication quoting the renowned Disk jockey, popular artist’s promoter and internationally acclaimed events planner, that he would rather throw his hat into the race.
According to Vision Magazine, “Mr. Biggs”, said he was opting to become president for the Musicians Union due to his interest in wanting to redeem the Union, by placing its top leadership role into the hand of a responsible individual who will represent the country’s music industry at all levels.
“Until we take our own destiny serious, we will always complain and remain at the bottom. Until we understand that this is Music BUSINESS we will not grow,” Vision Magazine quotes “Mr. Biggs” as saying.
But in a sharp reaction to the publication, which appeared on social media, Mr. Biggs”, who said he was just seeing the article for the first time, expressed shock and clarified that at no time did he utter such things to the writer.
He slammed the writer of the article for misrepresenting him, saying, “Okay so I am just seeing this article. Milkman Elliott Saytonneh I should approach you privately over this issue but you have misrepresented me publicly, therefore, I will vindicate myself publicly.”
“Mr. Biggs”, whose official rebuttal to the publication was done through Facebook explained that he had earlier received a set of questionnaire via social media asking for his opinion on the upcoming MULIB elections, but at no point in his response did he say he was interested in taking up any position within the Musicians Union.
“I received a questionnaire from you via Whatsapp asking my opinion on the music Union. Nowhere in my response to you did I say I am interested in any position in the Music Union,” writes the Leisure Entertainment-Liberia boss, “Mr. Biggs”, adding, “I don’t want to belittle the Union but I’m not looking anywhere near there…”
“I believe I have done more for the Music Industry than most people around here and I don’t have to run for elected office to serve,” said “Mr. Biggs”, who has either managed or promoted scores of artists including Nasse Man, Tarkun ‘J’, DenG, Amaze, J. Glo, Spoilla Boilla, Mr. ‘G’, Ericgeso, Soul Smitter, Coolnane, Neighborhood All-stars, Beat Master, ‘T-5’, Pure Skills.
