MONROVIA, LIBERIA – Since news broke that the Deputy Minister for Operations at the Ministry of National Defense, Ernest Momo Vafee had passed, scores of Liberians continue to mourn the demise of the youthful government official.

The remains of the fallen Deputy Minister of Defense has been deposited at the St. Moses Funeral Parlor, Punch FM/TV’s Online Service is reliably told.

Liberians, many of whom have taken to social media to pour out their grief over Vafee’s passing, can’t stop recalling profound memories of the deceased during his days in the land of the living.

Vafee died of Type 2 diabetes at the St. Joseph Catholic Hospital early Saturday, 19 January 2019, after his blood sugar level went high and he was rushed at the hospital to be attended to medically, according to family sources.

Type 2 diabetes, is the most common type of diabetes. It is a disease that occurs when one’s blood glucose, also called blood sugar, is too high. Blood glucose is your main source of energy and comes mainly from the food you eat. Insulin, a hormone made by the pancreas, helps glucose get into your cells to be used for energy. In type 2 diabetes, your body doesn’t make enough insulin or doesn’t use insulin well. Too much glucose then stays in your blood, and not enough reaches your cells.

Recalling the fallen Deputy Minister of Defense last days on earth, when Vafee posted a message on Facebook regarding a friend’s death, Bobby Musah wrote: “Life is totally uncertain!.. Just the other day, you said “RIP” to our fallen comrade-Charles Johnson”, now today we all are saying “RIP” to you Ernest Vafee. Yes, we all know not what the next hour, day, week, month may bring. You served well. Your time is up. Go and rest!”

For his part, a senior mainstream journalist now involved with corporate communications at the Liberia Revenue Authority (LRA), D. Kaihenneh Sengbeh wrote, “Kpooo, Ngalaa! (Meaning God in the local Kpelle dialect). This other strike is brutal. A friend, a big brother, a county man of mine, Ernest Vafee, is reported gone.”

“My man, we were laughing at your 10 Years Challenge hours back, and now we are mourning your forever gone challenge. Yes, it’s a ‘national challenge’!!”
