MONROVIA, Liberia – Opposition politician Abraham Darius Dillon has alarmed over what he calls threat on his life, being allegedly hatched by individuals he believes to be operatives of the CDC-led government.
Aside from several threats being issued on social media by people he referred to as folks who are hiding behind fake Facebook profiles, Dillon, the vice chair for political affairs of the opposition Liberty Parry (LP), said he has been credibly informed about series of plans being orchestrated against his life and his well-being.
Punch FM/TV’s Online Service recalls that in recent times, social media especially Facebook has been inundated with threats being issued by people believe to be supporters of President George Weah and his administration. These threats, some of which are death threats, are mostly directed at those who are critical of the government, and are largely perceived to be enemies of the ruling establishment.
For instance, on Thursday, amid reports of many Liberians in the opposition bloc gearing up to stage a mass protest against the government, a loyal supporter of President Weah and his administration, William W. Slim-King Broh, posted on his official Facebook page: “with this dispensation and with this president, protest can’t work to see him out, Stop wasting your time. And any attempt from those evil guys to bring civil arrest on our people, even the chicken in their generation will not live to tell the story.”
“We will execute all of them. We’re well prepared for that. Both in and out of Liberia, we will follow them and execute down to their chicken,” he added.
But what is even more mind boggling, according to a source who preferred remaining anonymous, is for a deputy minister in government, Mr. Eugene L. Fahngon to have buttressed William W. Slim-King Broh’s threating remarks.
Deputy Minister for Public Affairs at the Ministry of Information Cultural Affairs and Tourism, Eugene L. Fahngon, who seems to be in concurrence with Broh regarding threats spewed out against members of the opposition community in the country wrote: “William W. Slim-King Broh I said the same thing,” with this even motivating Broth to have elevated his threat against the opposition by further writing: “Eugene L. Fahngon maybe they think we’re here for play. Let them try it, we will kill all of them.”
Another Facebook user bearing the name “Opposition Medicine”, also wrote on Thursday claiming that by calling for mass protest against the Weah-led government, which the pair accuse of under performing, while Liberians go through heightened hardship as a result of a broken economy, Dillon and vocal talk radio presenter Henry Costa, had allegedly threatened the peace of the country, and for this, they must be killed.
“For threatening our peace, Henry Costa & Darius Dillon needs to die now!! “Opposition Medicine” wrote.
“Opposition Medicine”, on the same day, separately wrote: “DARIUS DILLON YOU CAN GET YOURSELF THE FBI PREPARED TO RECEIVE ME AT YOUR HOUSE I WILL KILL YOU FREE!! VERY SOON!!”
For his part, Beauford Smith, believes the Roots FM radio station of tough-talking talk show host Costa should be shut down by government, threatening to burn down the station if government fails to shut it down as a way of silencing the controversial talk radio presenter from being vocal on the regime.
“If government ain’t close the so-called root FM radio station, I personally will burn the station down as well,” Beauford Smith wrote.
Howbeit, Dillon has disclosed that credible information available to him indicates that there are series of plans being hatched for his life to be taken away, stating that the information points to government operatives at the National Security Agency (NSA).
Dillon divulged that the NSA agents behind the plot to eliminate him have been busy in the last few days concluding the means by which they would get at him.
He revealed that among other things, the government operatives are devising strategies such purportedly linking him and charging him with rape, if possible, landing him behind bars, since indeed that rape is non-bailable crime.
He added that the plan to get at him also entails having armed men posing as armed robbers to attack his home, in order to instill fear in him and his family; or the plotters
would use another vehicle to ram his car in the traffic to make it appear as if it was a vehicular accident.
Dillon further disclosed that the government operatives are also considering in their plan of action against him, the possible kidnapping of his wife or his daughter and hold them at ransom; throw petrol-bombs on his house; or under the cover of darkness, possibly bundle him up into an unknown car with armed men, drive him somewhere isolated and have him killed to erase trace of the killers.
“I am not taking these threats lightly, and I will not be cowed into submission. God is in control and His will shall be done,” Dillon wrote on his official Facebook page Friday.
